Fred and Joyce Davis were approved as Baptist Bible Fellowship missionaries to Taiwan in February 1971. In September 1990 the Davises changed their field to Canada. Fred is a 1968 graduate of the missions course of Baptist Bible College, Springfield, Missouri, and also received his Bachelors of Theology degree from BBC in 1969. Joyce is a 1968 graduate of the missions course at BBC. They served their internship at Twin City Baptist Church in Mishawaka, Indiana, where Fred was ordained in 1971. This award was presented two years past their 50-year mark due to travel restrictions which hindered their ability to attend a national meeting.
