(Recent prayer letter received from Ricky & Tammy Salmon, Thailand)
As missionaries in a country that is 95% Buddhist there is nothing that warms our heart more than seeing people excited to find Christ. January 23rd was a Sunday not unlike many. After services and lunch with our people, our youth were having activities when Gan, a young man drove up on his motorcycle. He had driven two hours to find out how to become a Christian. What a joy to hear these words and to know that a friend in Canada suggested he come to our church to find the answer to that very important question. He very sincerely prayed and asked Jesus into his heart and found the joy of sins forgiven.
Three weeks ago, Tammy met with a lady who had visited our services, (Bible in hand) to find out more about her life. Nuch explained how she wanted to be a Christian but she still wasn’t “good” enough. Tammy and Nuch went to have coffee and left as sisters in Christ. She has already followed the Lord in baptism along with another young man, Peter who has recently accepted Christ in the youth department. We have already had five people baptized this year. What a joy to see God at work!
It’s hard to believe in the days of technological advances everyday, some people don’t have these things we take for granted. We partner with Pastor May who goes into the villages on the border of Myanmar since the passing of his wife to share Christ with the Karen tribes who live there. Many places are accessible only by a 4-wheel drive truck or a dirt bike. Believers here are very new Christians and most have never been baptized. They are working on translating the gospels into a written language. When we asked some of the newly married couples if they planned to move down to the city, it was interesting to hear their replies. They unanimously said they love the peacefulness of their village. Please pray for this ministry, the translation work and Pastor May. I am thankful to have the opportunity to go and preach in the home churches there in the Kanchanaburi.
Bangjak Baptist Church is partnering together with missionaries Shane and Kayti Salmon to plant the Bentai Baptist Church in Samut Prakan, a nearby suburb of Bangkok. We are so excited that after much prayer and hard work the building is ready. The team is ready and they will have their grand opening service March 6th. We are sending members of Bangjak Baptist (a single man and family of four) who will work together with them. Bangjak will also assist in any hands-on outreaches and daily prayer for this new church family. We are so EXCITED to see a new church planted!
Many of you have been involved in the Legacy Project to provide Thai Deaf people the Word of God in their heart language. Six books of the Bible will be available to them free on Youtube this month. Our team is so excited about this launch and we ask you to pray for us, for wisdom in ways to get it to all of the hearing impaired community throughout Thailand. Acts and Matthew will follow soon, as they are in the editing process now. We also ask that you would consider sponsoring a book of the Bible. Our project funds are empty right now. We have completed Mark, John, Luke, 1st John, 2nd John and 3rd John. We need your help and prayers for this work to continue. Please check out our channel near the end of the month on Youtube-The Legacy Project Thai Sign Language Bible. Donations can be made online or by check to the Bible Translation Project through BBFI International. Please designate: Ricky Salmon | Thailand | Bible Translation Project.
