(a recent missionary letter written by Corey and Cora Wilcher, Guatemala)
Wow! We would never have guessed how the month of September would go for us. Especially with it being so close to our furlough departure. However, God moves in His own timing and His own way. We are beyond excited to share with you how September went! To start, we had our first church event. One young boy came to know Jesus as his Savior at the event! What a joy it was to fellowship as a church body together! One of the other men in our church that we are training had the opportunity to lead music and preach for the service. It was a joy to see God use him throughout the service. Please pray for Christian as he continues to learn more about the ministry and what God may be leading him to do in life. Hector, Christian, and Kevin will be preaching and doing music during our furlough time. Please pray for them.
Now for the big news. God has opened a very unique opportunity for us to begin planning for a second church plant. In a small town of 1,000 plus people, there is currently no church. Through some God-ordained circumstances, we were able to lock in the purchase of some property for a future church building. This is an incredible opportunity to birth a church in an area that does not have one. We ask you to consider giving to Project 20 Octubre which is the name of the town. In total, we need to raise $80,000 USD to purchase this property outright and to be able to afford building the church building. With your help, we believe we can accomplish this project quickly, but we cannot do it without you. God opened the door, we stepped out in faith, now we want to offer the opportunity for others to have a part of planting a church in a town that has been without one.
We were also recently able to go into a renting contract for a new building for our first church plant. It is a much needed answered prayer because we ran out of space in our previous location. However, in the future, the owners want to sell the building to us, and we could not agree more! We will be raising the funds necessary to purchase this building in addition to the Project 20 Octubre. A lot is happening in the ministry here in Guatemala and we count it a privilege to be serving Christ in this manner.
Thank you for your love and support that you always show to our family and ministry. Praying for you all always.
