-a recent prayer letter received from Dan and Vicki Weaver, BBFI missionaries to Belize
It’s that time of year again. Ever year in February, we are blessed with a medical team from the states that comes to our village. The team consists of doctors, dentists, and several nurses and assistants. There is usually about 30 individuals on the team. The entire event is held on the Valley Baptist church campus. Every school aged child in our village, as well as several adults will be seen by a dentist. There will be cleanings, fillings and extractions. Records are kept each year in order to monitor the progress of oral hygiene. Most of our villagers would never have the chance to see a dentist if not for this team.
The doctors will be seeing patients for various needs. Many of these individuals will be treated for worms, which is a very common problem amongst our people This is a huge event and a tremendous blessing for our people. In four days, over 1,000 people will pass through our gates for treatment. During the week, we are able to witness and share the Gospel with individuals. We are so grateful for the team members, many of whom have faithfully come for ten years straight. God has always been faithful to bless our ministry, and this is just another example of His faithfulness.
Our ministry continues to thrive both here in the Valley as well as in Bullet Tree Falls. In Bullet Tree we are finally seeing more adults and families faithfully attending services. Our people, both in the Valley and in Bullet Tree are participating in giving to missions and are excited about it. It has been a long and difficult road to get them to understand the importance of missions and individual responsibility of the believer to be involved.
Ms. Vicki is doing about the same. We continually see her condition gradually worsen*. Still unable to talk or walk, and her motor skills are slowing gradually. But in all of that, she has never complained about her physical condition and is still thankful to be here on the field, among the people she loves so much.
Thank you for your faithful prayers and support.
We could never do what God has called us to do…without you.
