Have you ever been through a period in your life when you prayed every day for God to give you an answer about something? Maybe your prayers sounded a little like this: “God, I’d be fine with a “no”, just give me some kind of answer! Please!”
Well, you’re not the only one.
I struggle way too much with being patient. I want to know everything that’s going to happen in the next 10 years, and I want to know it now! It drives me absolutely crazy that God won’t tell me everything I tell Him to when I tell Him to. But that’s where my problem lies.
I expect God to do what I tell Him.
If He hasn’t given you a “yes” or “no” answer on something, if He hasn’t put a neon sign over a certain door yet, then you probably don’t need to know yet. Maybe He’s trying to work with you on something else first, maybe He’s not telling you something so you’ll be amazed later at how well His plan fit together (without you micromanaging it), or maybe He just wants you to be happy trusting Him to know what’s coming. If we spend all of our time worrying about what will happen next in our life, and planning so we won’t be caught off guard, we’ll have no time left over to revel in the fact that God knew what was coming (and took care of it) before we even thought that it might be a problem.
If you can trust God to literally save your soul, don’t you think you should trust Him to tell you something exactly when you need to know it?
