We find ourselves in some unprecedented times for sure. COVID-19 has become a global pandemic and, as a result, nations and local governments are taking extreme measures to help curb the spread of this disease. These drastic actions have already brought some devastating consequences to much of the world’s population, among these being financial. While we understand the authority of the sending church and their responsibility for their missionaries, we desire to come alongside those churches to help where we can. Many sending churches are struggling themselves and are not able to financially assist their missionaries as they would like.
The BBFI Mission Office has come up with a plan to assist missionaries with shortfalls in their support that could affect their personal support levels. We will be using the funds received through the MISSIONARY CARE OFFERING. Because churches have given to this offering monthly or annually over the past eight years, we are able to help our missionaries in ways that many mission service centers cannot. We are calling this special opportunity the BBFI Missionary CARES Act 2020. I recently sent a letter and video explaining how this will help the missionaries.
However, this is only one of the ways that the Missionary Care Offering assists our missionaries. This offering that churches give to helps with specialized security training for the dangers missionaries encounter daily, encourages MKs with the challenges they face, regional retreats hosted by the Mission Office for our missionaries, and assisting them during times of personal emergencies. Over the years, this offering has helped over 300 missionaries. Because of the generosity of churches and their love for missionaries, we can “be there” for our missionaries.
Please participate in this Missionary Care Offering with a one time or monthly investment by returning the enclosed commitment card. One hundred percent of what you give to this offering directly helps your missionaries. One pastor recently stated:
“While we could have never predicted this time (COVID-19) would come; this is why we put the Missionary Care Offering together. The Lord knew and He gave the BBFI a great missions leadership team for such a time as this.”
Many missionaries have expressed their appreciation for this offering through the years. They have been blessed beyond their expectations in many cases.
Please continue to pray for our missionaries. Pray for physical safety, emotional well-being, protection from the virus, financial needs, separation from families, and ministry opportunities during these unprecedented times.
With you in the harvest,
Jon Konnerup, BBFI Mission Director
