Even as our world has shifted in the wake of new norms, ministry to our 247 BBFI MKs has continued. Through the faithful giving of churches, we have been able to bring smiles through birthday money, purchasing instruments for their own ministry, as well as helped fund mission trips that MKs took before our world came to a halt.
The Mission Office has worked to reestablish acceptance as a Christian organization whose missionary kids are considered for the prestigious MK Scholarship at Liberty University. The MK scholarship is not only competitive on the student level, but also on the approved organizational level as hundreds of nonprofits vie for that status. We are proud of the BBFI MKs who have earned that scholarship which often pays for most, if not all, of their college tuition.
Ten MKs have transitioned to the United States primarily for college these past few months and we have been able to provide financial help for college setup expenses as well as an impactful workbook entitled, “Returning Well” by Melissa Chaplin. When coupled with a caring mentor, this workbook has seen impactful results in assisting MKs as they work through the many facets that are uniquely theirs.
Many churches are supporting the MK program in a variety of ways, whether it has been the purchase of the new Kidz4Missionz children’s curriculum, through gifting their VBS offerings to the program, or even through monthly giving. If you would like more information on how you can help underwrite a MK teens transition or mission trip, or to simply begin giving monthly to the program, please contact me in our office at jill@bbfimissions.com.
