Recently, Dr. Jon Konnerup had the privilege of awarding a prestigious gemstone globe to Bob and Sue Phillips for 50 years of service in the Philippines. While serving as pastor in Woodward, OK, God began calling Bob and Sue into missions and after their church conducted two mission conferences, they surrendered to go to the Philippines in the spring of 1969. Sue struggled for a few years with the idea of taking their children to a foreign field, but God showed her He was capable of taking care of their children no matter where they lived.
While in the Philippines, God used them to see countless numbers of souls saved, hundreds of workers graduated from Bible College and their Christian Academy, 15 pieces of property were purchased, and a number of buildings including a mission house and eight church buildings were built. Many of their graduates are now serving in ministry and on foreign fields including Bangladesh, Cambodia and Uganda. Bob even served as a chaplain on a small US Air Force Base for several years and he also served as one of the first directors of the Asian Baptist Clearinghouse.
