We are always excited when a new mission-minded member joins our team! Recently, Tiffany Brown joined us in preparation for the retirement of Linda Turner, who has served in the Mission Office for 23 years. Tiffany was kind enough to tell us more about herself and her love for missions.
Please tell how and when you came to the Mission Office and what your role here is.
I was advised of Linda Turner’s upcoming retirement and thought I would be a perfect addition to this office. Through the application and hiring process, I was chosen to be the Donations Manager in Contributions. I began working here on 9/15/20.
Please tell us about your family.
I am married to Brian Brown of Lebanon, MO; I have a stepdaughter, Madelyn Brown (21) and a son, Eli Herren (17).
Can you tell us about your and your family’s past involvement with missions?
Missions has always been near and dear to my heart. I am a third generation employee of the Mission Office, and I have always known the role of this office as support to global and domestic missions. My grandfather, Bill Whitfield, worked here for a brief time before going on to pastor churches with a mission-minded focus. My parents, Bruce and Vicki Whitfield, have both worked in this office at various times. My uncle, Tim and Kim Whitfield were missionaries to Kenya and Tanzania throughout my childhood, and my sister Amanda and Brent Longenecker are missionaries to the Philippines. This has allowed me to foster and grow my love for different people groups and world missions.
What activities does your family like to do?
We enjoy spending time outdoors. We enjoy fishing, hunting, Cardinals Baseball, Chiefs Football, and most of all watching my husband race circle track stock cars (Asphalt Late Model).
How are you involved in your local church?
I have been a member of the praise/worship team. I have recently changed churches and am looking forward to possible opportunities to get involved.
What do you like most about working in the Mission Office?
I love how this office feels like coming home. There is a special comradery that just feels like family. I enjoy the fact that I have a part in supporting those in missions both domestically and internationally.
