(a recent prayer letter received from Kevin & Kristina Brown, Croatia)
It is necessary to take time and look back to see the Lord’s hand at work; sometimes we can miss something very important. Winter is the most difficult season for us; because of the cold and darkness, it is almost impossible to connect with people. In spite of this Kevin saw a change in a man he often passed on the street. Always greeting him warmly but never any response, in any way. Lately, he has been returning the greeting and even waving in passing which is uncharacteristic for Croats. No doubt the Spirit of God has begun to warm his heart to receive the gospel.
In December, the church we have been a part of for the last five years prepared an evangelistic YouTube video to mark the one-year anniversary of the earthquake. Directed, produced, and filmed by nationals; entitled “Shaken but Sure” giving hope to those who still suffer from loss and are reminded daily of the traumatic event. The presentation features our church choir, a message from the national pastor, and views of the devastation throughout our city. Here is a link for you to share with someone you may know who has roots from this region and might understand the message. https://youtu.be/1DbDjCeqSig
The whole experience has opened doors for our church to share the gospel with many. Sadly, people have truly hardened hearts and are not willing to respond to the gospel. Although, in Glina a young woman who returned to the area to care for her elderly mother has been attending the church where Kevin is preaching. She has made a public profession of faith and desires to be baptized. The gentleman Kevin has been helping and encouraging is still open to the Word of God. He has been faithfully listening to recorded sermons and plans to attend church services again soon.
Kristina had an opportunity to witness to a woman from Serbia who lives in Zagreb. Raised Orthodox she has been more interested in eastern religion. She is still in search of Truth and was very interested in Kristina’s testimony and presentation of the gospel.
Recently, the Lord has confirmed in our hearts that it is time to relocate and begin a new ministry. God has placed the city of Pula in our hearts. There is not a Baptist church in the region. Our plan is to begin seeking housing and preparations to move. As we work in this direction we believe that God will continue to guide, opening doors of opportunity.
