-a recent prayer letter from Jim and Sybil Eberhard, Kenya
A cult is a church or group that is generally claiming to follow Christ with a works based salvation or what is known as a “Jesus plus” to gain their salvation. They lift their founders’ writings to the level of authority of Scripture. They often deny the deity of Christ and manipulate their followers. These groups are recognized as churches because of freedom of religion in Kenya. Their leaders also need some type of training. So one of our schools called Suba Island Baptist Bible College has agreed to train them in Baptist Doctrine.
They were so thrilled with the biblical teachings they invited me in to preach and train their people in their local assembly. After preaching from Romans 10:1-10 at the church known as Nomia, 30 of the 40 that had attended responded to the Gospel. Even the pastor and the church secretary, other leaders and attenders came to receive Christ. We are continuing training in discipleship and other biblical practices trusting God to lead them to truth. THE BIBLE SCHOOLS ARE OPENING DOORS TO SHARE THE GOSPEL WITH THOSE WHO THINK THEY ARE ALREADY SAVED THROUGH THEIR GOOD WORKS.
This term we were able to teach a Cross Culture Communication class in Missions, this is part of our extension program from BBC in Springfield. We have been granted the authority as an extension school to grant Bachelor Degrees. So these students are attempting some of the same classes offered at BBC in Springfield.
“Doing Hard Things” was our youth camp theme. We had 123 in camp, with 12 saved and 11 who gave their lives to serve the Lord.
