There are many factors that influence a student’s college selection. These critical aspects particularly applicable to MK’s are worthy of consideration and discussion.
- How much will it cost to obtain a degree from this institution and how much financial aid will be available? Minimizing or even eliminating all student debt by graduation will directly open up or limit your future opportunities.
- What type of institution is it? Liberal arts, public university, community college, technical school, Christian college?
- Who do you know or has recently attended there? Are you able to get information on their personal experience while there?
- How does the administration support the needs of MK’s?
- Question why and how many students transfer out of this college.
- Consider the location: how far will you be from family or supportive churches? Is it relatively easy to travel to family/friends and do you feel welcome to join them during holidays and breaks? Would you be able to acclimate to the weather on campus?
- What were your impressions during a campus tour?
Below you will find information about colleges associated with the BBFI.

Missionary families also qualify for a significant discount when they register for online classes.
- Online Education Tuition Discount (Undergraduate & Graduate): BBFI Missionaries (husband, wife, and dependent children) can take online undergraduate or graduate courses for $300.00 per credit hour plus fees. This is the “full-time employee” discounted rate, and it is the lowest rate we offer anyone. The $300.00 rate is often mostly offset by Pell Grant funds. Approximately 94% of BBFI Missionaries qualify for the Pell Grant. So, for example, if a missionary family is full Pell Grant eligible, after the $300.00 tuition rate for tuition and the Pell Grant is applied, most missionaries only pay a couple of hundred dollars total for the entire semester. Thus, a missionary kid could remain on the field with their parents, continue serving on the field, and earn an accredited online degree through Mission U in a number of degree programs for very little expense.
- On Campus Tuition Discount (Undergraduate): BBFI Missionary kids are eligible for a $2,000.00 per year institutional scholarship if they are sent out of a supporting church.
