I write this letter while visiting missionaries and churches in Taiwan. It is always a joy to spend time with missionaries and see what God is doing through His faithful servants. This is one of the best parts of my ministry as the Mission Director of the BBFI. You all are amazing!

Many have asked about the book I recently wrote and published entitled “From Alcatraz to Africa.” It tells the story of my family from how my parents met and became missionaries in Ethiopia to the communist takeover which forced missionaries to leave the country. The book is full of amazing stories about missionary life and work in the 60s and 70s.

Pastor Tim Adrian is raising money from churches to make it possible for all BBFI missionaries to receive a free copy of this book. If you come by the office, see my assistant, Carole, to get your free copy. Otherwise we will mail them once the funds have come in. If you would like additional copies or would like someone else to read the book, it is available on online at Amazon or Barnes & Noble. Also, the digital version should be available in October – so I am told. If you like stories from the mission field, I believe you will like this book.

I recently came across a poem written by a missionary. The poet’s name was not provided, but I thought it was worth sharing.

We the unwilling
Led by the all-knowing
Are doing the
Impossible
For the ungrateful.
We have done so much
For so long
With so little
We are now
Qualified to do anything
With nothing.

September brings a whole new set of opportunities in serving the Lord. My prayer is that God will use you in every way possible to bring others to Christ. With God, all things are possible!
