HANNAH’S EXAMPLE OF FAITH PROMISE GIVING | I Samuel 1 & 2
Hannah is probably the best example of Faith Promise in the Scriptures.
I Samuel 1:7&8 – Hannah’s sorrow. Hannah is in anguish of soul over her inability to bear a child.
I Samuel 1:10 – Hannah prayed. Hannah took her problem to the Lord having faith that only the Lord could solve her problem.
I Samuel 1:9-11 – Hannah’s promise. She made a promise to the Lord. She asked for something she did not have in order to give it back to Him. That is exactly what we do in faith promise.
I Samuel 1:19-20 – Hannah’s solution. The Lord remembered Hannah and answered her prayer. She received what she had specifically asked for: a son.
I Samuel 1:24-28 – Hannah’s sacrifice and surrender. Hannah did not forget the promise she had made the Lord. She kept her promise and lent Samuel to the Lord all the days of his life.
I Samuel 2:19 – Hannah serving. Each year when Hannah made the new coat for Samuel it had to be larger. Hannah would never have considered taking him a coat the same size as the previous year because he had grown. Likewise, the need in the world has grown and we must make our faith promise larger.
I Samuel 2:20-21 – Hannah’s satisfaction. The Lord blessed Hannah and Elkanah and gave them three sons and two daughters. Five is the number of grace. Giving is a grace. (II Cor. 8:1-15) We cannot outgive God. His dividends are greater than we can even imagine.
