MERRY CHRISTMAS! I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. It was encouraging to see so many posts and pictures of missionaries around the world celebrating time together with other missionaries and some with nationals of their country. It was nice to be with some of my family, including my dad who just got out of the hospital not long ago. He is doing better but still dealing with a couple of issues. Thanks for your prayers for him.
We have a lot going on at the Mission Office even though it is the holiday season. We are gearing up for Project 938 next year with monthly regional emphasis on praying for more laborers. Stay tuned for more information and I hope you will join us again in praying for more laborers to share the Gospel worldwide.
The annual Missionary Family Reunion has been scheduled for the week of June 13-17, 2022, at the Radisson Hotel in Branson, MO. If you are going to be in the US during that time, I sure hope you will plan on attending. We look forward to a great time for the teens, children, and the entire family. Because of the funds that have come in through the Missionary Care Offering, the cost will only be $50 per family and $25 per single. Due to Covid restrictions the past two years, we were not able to have this important time together. Plan to attend and bring your kids!
I have not traveled internationally for almost two years. I am looking forward to being able to soon. This article was interesting to me and might be to you too — The Longest Ever Flight Was 64 Days in a Cessna. Anybody interested in trying to break the record – in a Cessna?
The phrase “uncertain times” has become the catchphrase of our current times. I have said it many times in conversations. When you think about it, it can easily fake us into thinking life was a sure thing before COVID-19 and that we were able to plan all our days with certainty. I was thinking the other day about how travel seemed to be easier than it is now. However, pre-Covid travel had its issues too. As missionaries, we know the truth found in Proverbs 16:9 which says: A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.
The truth is missionary life, or any life for that matter, will always have some uncertainty. But our hope as believers doesn’t come from current events. Our hope is rooted in the One who establishes our steps, even when chaos seems to rule the day. Don’t let the current events, pandemics and new variants like the Omicron sway your call from God. Even though many things seem to be uncertain or even cancelled, the Great Commission has not been cancelled and neither has the Lord’s calling upon your life.
So, let’s keep serving our King of kings and Lord of lords. He deserves it and the world needs to hear of the true reason for the season – Jesus Christ!
Your friend,
