On Wednesday, October 19, we had the honor to host a birthday party here at the mission office for Mrs. Ann Baird.  Most of you know the Bairds, who served at the mission office for almost 30 years, 20 of them as the mission director.  Mrs. Baird has been caring for Bro. Baird, who is suffering with Alzheimers, for many months now.   We had a taco buffet lunch, a throwback to the days when we would all bring an ingredient for tacos, burritos or taco salad.  We were also thrilled that her daughter Dena, and son in law Ray, from here in Springfield, were able to attend, as well as her son Sandy Baird, with wife Karen. A delicious chocolate birthday cake was served, and we also gave her some flowers and balloons.  Mrs. Baird has been such a blessing to the missionaries and the staff of the mission office, and we’re so thankful we were able to take this opportunity to make her special day memorable.
