Looks like we made it through August 2022. I know many of you have been busy with ministry events such as camps and leadership training. It is always a blessing to read and hear of how God is working in your ministries and of the lives being changed for eternity. Thank you for your faithfulness!
September 19-21, 2022 is the National Fellowship Meeting in Springfield, Missouri. It will be held at Park Crest Baptist Church. We will present one couple for BBFI approval and one couple for WIN. It looks like next year in May and September we already have more couples and singles lined up.
Project 938 is moving forward with many churches around the world praying for more laborers. We are fervently working on resources for the 938 Sunday on October 2, 2022. Would you join us in this effort to see more laborers in our churches, starting churches in America and surrendering to go as missionaries? By the way, missionaries are the best recruiters we have. Thanks for your part in challenging young people and couples to follow the Lord’s calling into the ministry.
Check out our weekly podcasts on our YouTube channel at BBFI Missions. We interview missionaries, pastors and others while also sharing about missions and the Mission Office. One of the latest is about my trip to Romania this past June.
One of our long-time missionaries and heroes of the faith for many, Lavern Rodgers, has gone home to heaven to meet his Savior face to face. He left this world around midnight on August 18, 2022. I will miss him. He called me often and I had the opportunity to be with him in Japan on several occasions. He kept going till the end. He was always a great encouragement to me.
I read about Tamae Watanabe. At 73 she is the oldest woman to scale the tallest mountain in the world, Mount Everest. That reminds me of Joshua, who in his 80s said in Joshua 14:12, “Give me this mountain.” I would put Bro. Rodgers in this category of going forward for God even when we get old. He went home to Glory at the age of 95 and he started his last church in Japan at the age of 90. An interesting note is that this last church is in a mountainous region of Japan. See what I did there…mountains?
Regardless of age, let’s keep climbing!
Your friend,
