I was born, raised and have always lived in Fort Worth, Texas. It was in Fort Worth at Lakeland Street Baptist Church on an Easter Sunday that I was saved at the age of eight. A Sunday school teacher shared the Easter story while placing flannel graph pictures on the board. After the lesson, she gave an invitation and I ran crying into her arms and asked God to save me through his son Jesus Christ. I remember everything about that day. It is that experience that has given me a lifelong love of teaching God’s word to boys and girls. I have taught Sunday school to children most all of my adult life. For the past 3 years, I have been the Children’s Director at Hickory Ridge Baptist Church (formerly Dale Street Baptist). What a privilege and responsibility it is to share the word of God with others.
On a personal note, my husband Ricky and I have been married for 47 years. God has blessed us with two daughters, two son-in laws, six grandchildren and even a couple of great-grandkids! My work background is in the public schools where I was an Administrative Assistant for 30 years. Moving to Springfield in June of 2011 was not really in our plans but we believe it was God’s plan for us to be here.
I have worked at the Missions Office since February. I have already met several missionaries and am looking forward to the opportunity to meet others as they pass through on their travels. Working in a place where your co-workers love the Lord and show that love through their care and service to missionaries is something I am proud to be a part of. My favorite part of my day is our Prayer Time. Every day we meet around a table where prayer requests and praises are shared. We also read a letter from a missionary and then one of our men closes in prayer. The Mission Office is a unique and special place. I thank God for giving me the opportunity to be here.
