(a recent prayer letter from Mike & Jill Ivey, South Korea)
Despite Covid 19 restrictions, the Bible Institute is meeting….Although some of our incoming fall students chose to defer by a year, 15 students are studying through the Bible with us in the 2020-2021 school year! Amazingly, God allowed the timing of our weekend evangelism outreach to coincide with lowered restrictions put in place by the Korean government. We praise the Lord this allowed 73 middle and high school students to enjoy the day camp with 32 responding to the gospel message, receiving personal salvation counseling plus many other dedications.
Trips cancelled – Israel, Thailand & Vietnam….A normal school schedule would allow our Bible Institute students to visit the Holy Land as well as Thailand and Vietnam. Last spring’s Israel trip was first rescheduled and then completely cancelled, and the Southeast Asia trip for December was also postponed. These trips are a vital part of the training and ministry exposure for our program; please pray for wisdom as our school leadership evaluates the best way to replace these missed opportunities.
Looking back….Jill and I did enjoy our first trip with the students to Vietnam one year ago in December 2019. The students were exposed to two dozen different mission ministries during the ten-day trip. One of the highlights for me personally was to meet the pastor and visit the building of Grace Baptist Church, one of the earliest Baptist churches in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City). Your faithfulness to the Lord Jesus Christ encourages us to continue in our ministry of training up the next generation of leaders in Asia. Thank you for your concern for this work and ministry, we deeply appreciate you!
