Not long ago one of our missionaries was involved in a security incident in their country of ministry that could have been far worse than it turned out. They became the victim of an “Express Kidnapping.” Fortunately, they were released physically unharmed. The “bad guys” took their money, some personal items and withdrew money from an ATM. The most valuable possession they stole was the missionary’s sense of safety and security. Without naming people, please join with me in asking God to restore their peace of mind and sense of security.
In many cases being ALERT to your surroundings and recognizing changes can be enough to keep you from falling prey to the “bad guys.” I know many of you have been living and serving abroad for many years and, consequently, it is natural to become complacent.
Please take a moment today to remind yourself, speak with your spouse and children, if applicable, and rehearse personal safety measures that could save your life.
Also, please make note of the following safety measures.
My goal is to help equip you with tools that will help preserve you and your family’s personal safety. God himself is our ultimate “protector” but he expects us to be wise in this world.
Helping you remain safe is my goal.
