(This is the third part in a series of questions that are often asked about BBFI Missions. You can read part one HERE, and part two HERE.)
14. How do we approach education for children of missionaries?
We encourage parents to do what is best for their children. Each child and their specific needs are different. Each country is different. Each schooling opportunity is different. Some families home school while others send their kids to a national school, Christian school, or boarding school. Some do online education with a school system in the US. We give advice and resources to the missionaries to help them determine the best option for them.
15. How much support does a missionary raise? Do they keep it all?
The cost of each country and ministry is different and therefore budgets vary. We work with the missionary to determine the cost of living in their country. We use COLA or Cost of Living Adjustment from government recognized organizations to determine the COLA for each individual country. This helps a missionary figure out what their personal living will cost on the field. They also raise additional funds for ministry. That amount can vary due to the type of ministry and size of ministry. The missionary receives 100% of their support sent to them. The BBFI Mission Office does not take anything from their support for our operating expenses. This is very unique in today’s world. We operate by faith like the missionaries do and are supported financially by churches and individuals.
16. Do you have any other program for those who would consider coming alongside a church planter in a support role?
Yes, through our World Initiative Network (WIN) program, skilled professionals have a connection with existing foreign ministries where they can engage locals with the gospel while using the passion they have been trained for. From teaching, coaching, building, or medical, these and many more opportunities await those whom God is calling to supplement the work of a church planter.
