It is an uncomfortable conversation to have, but several missionaries have recently contacted the Mission Office regarding benefits available to them should they or a family member pass away while on the mission field.

The good news is, the Mission Office has set repatriation benefits and basic life insurance in place for you through the BBFI Medical Plan package. The cost of these benefits is included in your monthly deductions.

Repatriation benefits are provided through Intana Global.

FAMILY COORDINATION & REPATRIATION OF MORTAL REMAINS: Certain expenses related to coordinating the travel of family members traveling with an insured person needing evacuation are covered up to $20,000 per occurrence.

“Travel of family members” is guaranteed for the spouse or guardian. Additional family members will be considered on a case-by-case basis. We cannot guaranty that Intana will cover the cost of all family member tickets back to the States.

Should you decide to have burial on the field, the cost of embalming (if allowed in your country) and burial may be submitted for consideration under the repatriation benefit.

ACCIDENTAL DEATH & DISMEMBERMENT: $10,000 benefit is provided in the event of death by accidental means for adults.

The back of your IMG Medical Card has contact information for Intana Global. However, we encourage you to contact the Mission Office in the event of an emergency. There are several other resources we can put in play for you. Because of our relationships with these providers, we can work above the customer service level in all these programs.

LIFE INSURANCE (Career Only)

BBFI also provides a basic group life insurance plan through Standard Life. The cost of this plan is also included in your monthly deductions. Standard Life provides these benefits.

64 And Under:

Primary Insured        $25,000
Spouse                         $5,000
Dependent Child       $2,000

65 And Over:

Primary Insured        $16,250
Spouse                         $5,000
Dependent Child       $2,000

This policy is double indemnity in the case of an accident resulting in death.
