Commerce Bank has just published the following information to encourage all customers to be alert to the increase in fraud attempts, including what might be perceived as coming from Commerce itself.

“Recently, we learned of a sophisticated attack in which fraudsters have targeted Commerce customers by mirroring* and calling from an established Commerce Bank phone number. The fraudsters then ask to discuss suspicious transactions on the customer’s account while walking the customer through the supposed transactions. As a final step, a link is texted to the customer that requests they update their login credentials.”

“If you receive a suspicious email, phone call, or text, do not respond or click on any links. “
