In an interview with Linda Turner, who has worked in the Mission Office for over 21 years, we learned about what she enjoys most!
How and when did you begin working here at the Mission Office?
I started working as an assistant in the Finance Office with Bro. Don Brown and Bro. Paul Hylton. Later I moved over to Contributions where I currently work to process funds for the missionaries.
Tell us about your family.
My husband (of 37 years) and I have one daughter who has two sons, ages 22 and 15. I am also a “Missouri Grandma” to an “adopted” grandson and twin great-granddaughters. I enjoy all my time with my grandkids. They enjoy coming to our house to share a meal and go places with us.
What is one thing that few people know about you?
I am the youngest of six children. I have 19 nieces and nephews and I enjoy spending time with them and all their kids and grandkids. I am a super fan of Cardinals baseball (since the Bob Gibson days). My grandmother was a big fan and would listen to the games on the radio – this is my preferred method of listening to the game (even when I go to the ball park or have it on television).
What is your favorite indoor/outdoor activity?
I like the simple things in life like spending time with family, reading, boating, gardening, and sitting on my back deck enjoying the fresh air.
Who has been a personal mentor and how have they influenced you?
During the years I was growing up, my Grandma was the only person who attended church regularly in my family. She has been gone now for several years and I know her prayer would be for all of her family to come to the saving knowledge of Jesus and to grow in the faith.
What are your personal goals?
To be used of God and be the very best G-maw and great G-maw. To keep my testimony and live my faith before others and my family.
What do you like most about working in the Mission Office?
Working at the Mission Office is a blessing and a real joy by being able to share prayer requests and just work with great people. I enjoy being able to visit with, and be a blessing to, our missionaries and to the donors of our fellowship.
