Missionaries often hear how much better and easier it is to stay connected to friends and family now that virtually everyone has access to the internet and a cell phone. Yet studies are showing that people are feeling lonelier and more isolated during the digital age in which we find ourselves. As with all your regular church members, you exert a considerable amount of effort into gathering and keeping them close to the fold out of concern for their spiritual health. But what about the missionaries you support, or even more so, those for whom you are a sending church? Are they routinely checked on to see how they are faring or are they more out-of-sight out-of-mind?
Sometimes, churches struggle with how to be practical yet meaningful in their care for missionaries. Still there are those who, on the surface at least, seem very apathetic to having missionary families visit their church.
So how can you bridge that gap? TCK Training has produced some training resources that will help establish some foundations, cast a vision for care, and equip your staff and church on how to be effective in caring for your missionaries who serve as an extension of your local ministry. The next online session for ‘Churches Supporting Missionary Families’ is September 28, 2023. CLICK HERE to read more.
