Your visual presentation is essentially a “teaser” to set the stage for a more personal interaction with the congregation. A carefully thought out, well-written presentation can say exactly what it should in four minutes. This REQUIRES preparing a script. Everything you do should tie into that central theme.
The next step is to write a brief story outline: the introduction, the body, and the conclusion. Another way to look at it is as a storyteller, and to define the what makes a good story. You can break up every good story into three parts: setup, conflict and resolution. When we start talking about regular missionary update videos or missionary vlogging, this will be a crucial part of your process in coming up with new content. Practice by picking any movie, book, or story and identify the setup, conflict and resolution.
SETUP – Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of
water
CONFLICT – Jack fell down and broke his crown
RESOLUTION – And Jill came tumbling after
Next create a script and video log with two columns. The first column is where you’ll insert your script. The second column is where you’ll add notes and the file names of video clips that correspond to the lines in your script.
