It really is hard to believe we are entering November of 2022. In many ways this year has seemed to go by quickly. Before you know it 2023 will be brought in. I have a number of things I would like to share with you.
- Groundbreaking for the new property was a success. We are making progress on the permits and soon we hope to see the grading of the land begin with clearing the trees, moving dirt and setting in the pads for the buildings, roads, and parking. Pray that the struggling economy will not affect this project.
- Brian and I have met with many other mission groups with retirement housing to see how they administrate their housing and how they charge. We will now be putting our heads together to determine the best way to move forward with this. If you are interested in putting your name on a waiting list, you can email Steve Bender at Sbender@bbfimissions.com. We may create a form to be used soon.
- 938 Sunday was a success on October 2, 2022. We heard from many churches across the country that participated as well as many internationally. Let’s keep praying for more laborers.
- Joyce Pearman (Piatt) will be retiring from the Mission Office sometime in December this year. Tiffany Brown, who is the current receptionist, is being trained to take her place in that position. She will be assisting with the Quarterly Reports among other things. Then, we will need to find a receptionist to take Tiffany’s place.
- Tiffany Pierce, Craig Stevenson’s Administrative Assistant, is leaving our office early next year after she gives birth to her first child. She will be a stay-at-home mom. So, we are looking for someone to take her place. Let me know if you know of someone looking for a job.
- We were recently a part of the Global Week at Liberty University. They gave us a prominent place on campus to meet with students. Many expressed interest in missions and the BBFI. It was fun to be in hall meetings and reminisce of my days in the dorms 40 years ago. We hope to see new missionaries as a result of this event.
- Seminole Baptist Temple hosted one of our youth events we call “The Gathering” where students come from churches all around and are presented with missions. All the youth pastors expressed appreciation and several young people surrendered to be missionaries. We will keep doing this regionally across the country.
- November is the month where we start negotiating costs and things pertaining to the medical plan and considering the strength of the plan. Please pray for these negotiations as well as the standing of the self-funded plan overall. We will keep you posted.
- I took this test and found out I read fastest in “Roboto” font (try it — it only takes about 10 minutes).
- Remember to send in any opportunities you might have for WIN missionaries to come and work alongside you or even for summer or short-term internships. We get requests all the time.
- Stories. Send in your stories of salvations or anything else happening on the field that shows the love and work of God in a person’s life. We would like to post various stories from around the world to help generate interest for missions and encourage people to pray. Send your stories to stories@bbfimissions.com.
Finally, 51 missionaries shared with me that they read my letter last month. I am going to have someone in the office do a random drawing. The five names chosen will each get $50 placed into their account. Keep an eye on your EOM statement the end of November.
Have a great month and Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Your friend,
Jon
