Doug grew up as a missionary kid, spending his teen years in Kenya. Donna grew up as an Air Force child, spending her teen years in Milford, DE. They met while attending Baptist Bible College (Springfield, MO) where they were individually preparing to be missionaries to East Africa. After two years of college and a two-year internship at First Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Franklin, IN, they went before the Baptist Bible Fellowship and were approved in 1990 as career missionaries to the land of Kenya.
Doug and Donna first arrived on the field of Kenya in 1992 after 2 years of deputation. They jumped right in to help Doug’s parents and veteran missionaries, Bob and Betty Stamper. They assisted with overseeing five established ministries they were working with, as well as four others they were looking after on behalf of another missionary. While it was a busy time, it was also very rewarding.
Currently, they are involved in preaching, teaching the children, holding ladies’ meetings, and encouraging couples in their marriages in six different churches:
Bible Baptist Church – Kabati
Bible Baptist Church – Juja
Bible Baptist Church – Karaba
Bible Baptist Church – Thika
Bible Baptist Church – Greystone
Bible Baptist Church – Mukuria
Their plan is to begin another ministry in 2025, should the Lord allow it.
The Stampers are also involved in training Kenyan men and women to reach their own country and obey the Great Commission. Doug is the head of the Bible Baptist Institute in Makongeni where both he and Donna are involved in teaching the men and women more about the Bible and how to be leaders in the various ministries of the church. At Nairobi Baptist Bible College in Ruiru, Doug will take on the role of Academic Dean upon their return to Kenya. He teaches Theology, Bible, and Practical classes to 45-55 students. Donna not only teaches English but is also the Head of the English Department.
In the more than 30 years they have been there, they have seen times of illness and heartbreak, times of great victory and times of sorrow. Through it all, God has remained faithful. It was with great joy that they received their award for 30 years of faithfulness to the Lord and the people of Kenya. And while it is always nice to be recognized here on earth, the greatest honor will be the Kenyan souls in Heaven who were saved because of the ministry of the Stampers.
