You will want to consider your options on how you will get around once you arrive.
Public Transportation
Most cities will offer some kind of City Bus / City Transit options for its residents. You can typically view their schedule online or give them a call to determine if this is a good fit. Fees are very nominal and can even be bundled for multiple trips.
Personal Transportation
If you choose to own a vehicle, this will require additional steps such as obtaining in-state vehicle plates or tags (acquired at the local office of the State Department of Motor Vehicles which will need to be periodically renewed), acquiring vehicle insurance, and a driver’s license.
If you will be driving your own vehicle, you will want to become familiar with local traffic laws and flow patterns (one-way, round-abouts, etc.) as well as how to regularly maintain your vehicle to keep it in good running order. It is also essential that you become aware of local laws regarding public behavior which could be different from the country in which you grew up.
