As this letter is being sent out, we are hosting the Missouri BBFI monthly meeting at the Mission Office. We will be reminding the pastors of the services we provide to their church and their missionaries. We will also be taking them on a tour to meet everyone who works in the Mission Office and tell them about their areas of responsibility. I think the pastors will appreciate what they hear and see.
The next three days, April 2-4, we will be hosting the World Mission Forum for the BBC students. This is the mission emphasis time of the year where they all come to the Mission Office and we challenge them for missions. Missionaries in the area come and present to them as well. Please pray for many to answer the call to missions. Also, don’t forget our 9:38 challenge to pray for more missionaries.
The Associate Directors and I are also planning a number of Pastor Dinners across the country where we share with them about the Mission Office and the missionaries. This is intended to inform them of all that is going on around the world and to encourage them to keep supporting you, our missionaries. Pray for us as we work to encourage pastors and their churches to continue partnering with BBFI missions.
I just want to remind you about the upcoming Missionary Family Reunion, June 10-14. We are already working on preparing to make it a special time of encouragement and fun together. If you are going to be on furlough during that time, I sure hope you will plan on coming. You will have a great time with other missionaries and the Mission Office staff. Your kids will enjoy it and your teens will build strong friendships with other MK teens.
When you read Ephesians 4:1-2, it is basically talking about walking with patience. The work of the missionary takes a lot of patience for sure. I also believe patience is crucial to our testimony before the people we are trying to reach and teach. We need to be people who exhibit genuine humility, gentleness, and patience so they will be interested in what we have to say.
Henry Stanley traveled to Africa in 1872 to find Dr. David Livingstone, the famous missionary and explorer, who had lost contact with the European community. After finding him, Stanley spent several months with Livingstone, who by that time was an old man.
Stanley observed Livingstone as one who was patient, untiring and eager for the sake of Christ and His gospel. Livingstone had been wronged many times by the local people, but he loved them because God loves them. Many were saved because of his careful walk with patience before the people.
We need to remember that what we say will have far greater effect when we live with patience and love the people through our actions. If the world could see a clear picture of Jesus Christ through His humble, gentle and patient people, our evangelism would have an enormous impact. Let’s pray the we would all live in such a way that glorifies God and attracts others to the Savior. That is what I desire in my life.
Your friend,
Jon Konnerup
