BBFI Missions Building Project Update | September 2023
On October 7, 2022, the BBFI Mission Office hosted a groundbreaking ceremony to kick off the construction of its new campus on the west side of Springfield, MO. Since that time, incredible progress has been made and, as of now, we are about two months ahead of schedule. Here is a look at some of the highlights of the progress made in each area of the project and a look at the road ahead:
Property – The property has been cleared and the development is nearing completion. All storm drainage is complete, all underground infrastructure is nearing completion, the road has been cut in and graded, black dirt is beginning to be spread over all common areas, and they are preparing to put the roads and parking in beginning on September 25, 2023.
BBFI Mission Office – The office building is scheduled for completion in January 2023. At this point, the roof is finished, the framing inspection has passed, the plumbing rough-in is complete, crews are working hard on the interior electrical and HVAC systems, the interior spray insulation is complete, and 80% of all windows have been installed. Beginning September 18, 2023, crews will begin putting sheetrock on interior walls and the brick on the exterior.
Missionary Retirement Homes – We are excited to let you know that on Monday, September 11, 2023, framers began working on the first retirement building! In the coming weeks and months, the first retirement building will have walls, wall sheathing, ceiling joists, roof trusses, and roof sheathing. Once that is complete, the roofers will install the shingles and a team will install the windows and doors.
Event Center – The slab for the event center is complete and, as of right now, Crossland Construction is preparing to begin construction in the coming weeks. They will handle the framing, exterior finishes, roofing and some interior insulation. After they are finished with this, church construction teams will come in and help complete this building.
Short-Term Apartments – At this point, the slab is complete. More updates will be available soon.
As you can see, there has been a lot of progress made, but there is still work to be done. To finish the project, we are looking to raise an additional $900,000.
